| (in English) | Recently, with the rapid progress in image processing and three-dimensional (3D) technology, stereoscopic images are not only seen on television but also in theaters, on game machines, etc. But the equilibrium function in humans deteriorates when viewing 3D films. One cause of visually induced motion sickness (VIMS) has been considered to be sensory conflict. In this study, the body sway was measured to evaluate the equilibrium function while viewing static 2D, dynamic 2D, and 3D (stereoscopic) films on a 40 inch liquid crystal display (LCD). The visual distance was set to be 3H (height of the display), and the velocity and the acceleration vectors of the sphere changed on the LCD. The body sway was also measured for 60 s after viewing the films. As a result, we succeeded in constructing the mathematical model of the body sway during the VIMS. | |
