How the modality in input and exposure effects affect syntactic priming in language production in Japanese EFL learners
Yuki Yonamine, Hirokazu Yokokawa (Kobe Univ.) TL2012-57
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this study, syntactic priming method was used to reveal the process of learning syntactic structures in Japanese EFL learners. We explored how differences in modality in input (spoken or written) affected language production and how increase of exposure to a specific syntactic structure affected language production. The results suggested that there was no priming effect in a written condition, but spoken condition had priming effects, and that cumulative effects were observed in all conditions between modalities and proficiencies after increase of exposure to a specific syntactic structure.
