Radio-On-Demand Networks (ROD) have been proposed to improve energy-efficiency of wireless LAN devices.
Each wireless LAN device in ROD is equipped with a wake-up receiver, and only
wake-up receiver is turned on when there is no communications demand. A station, which attempts to wake up a wireless LAN device, transmits a wake-up signal.
A wakeup-receiver operating with ultra low-power consumption detects the predifined set of the length of wireless LAN frames included in the wake-up signal, and identifies the presence of wake-up request.
In this paper, we apply a wake-up receiver without narrow-band BPF in order to realize miniaturization of the receiver and to increase degree-of-freedom to select wake-up channels.
The receiver without narrow-band BPF is vulnerable to out-of-band interference, therefore
we propose a differential frame length detection which can increase the probability of detection of the wake-up frame length even under severely-interfered conditions.
The proposed scheme identifies the beginning and end of frames by detecting the gaps in the received signal level.
The numerical results obtained with experiments show that the proposed scheme can effectively incerease frame length detection rate even with collocated interfering nodes. |
