Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to realize super high bit-rate mobile communications, 10 Gbps 8x16 MIMO-OFDM outdoor transmission experiment in microwave 11 GHz band have been conducted, this report introduces it in detail. More than 10 Gbps super high bit-rate mobile communications have been studied to achieve higher bit-rate in mobile communications, and in order to verify its feasibility, the outdoor transmission experiment has been conducted in Ishigaki-shi, Okinawa. In the experiment, on the assumption of uplink, a mobile station (MS) moves in average speed of 9 km/h and transmits spatially multiplexed MIMO-OFDM signals by eight omni antennas, and a base station (BS) receives them by 16 directional antennas. By demodulating the received signals obtained by the experiment in the off-line mode, transmission performances are evaluated. MS and BS consist of a 8x16 MIMO-OFDM experimental system that supports 400 MHz bandwidth in the 11 GHz band, and this report presents both specifications and configuration of the experimental system. In addition, it shows a measurement course where MS moves in the outdoor experiment, SNR distribution, and delay spread which are measured by BS. Moreover, by evaluating throughput performances of 11.8 Gbps transmission with 64QAM and coding rate of 3/4, this report demonstrates that more than 10 Gbps throughput can be achieved in the 11 GHz band mobile communications. It is also shown that introducing turbo detection as MIMO signal detection can expand the coverage area of more than 10 Gbps throughput.
