A Study on Inter-cell Interference Coordination Method Using Inter-cell Interference Power Control in LTE Uplink

(in English) We propose an inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) method using transmission power control (TPC) based on inter-cell interference power in addition to the conventional received signal power-based TPC in cellular uplink assuming orthogonal access such as in LTE. In the proposed method, ICIC effect similar to the conventional fractional frequency reuse (FFR) is obtained by changing the target value of allowable inter-cell interference power among multiple frequency blocks within the system bandwidth and by coordinating the target values for respective frequency blocks among neighboring cells in semi-static manner. Different from the conventional FFR, since all users within a cell can access all frequency blocks, the reduction in the multiuser diversity gain is alleviated compared to the conventional FFR. From the computer simulation results, we show that the proposed method can enhance both the cell-edge and average user throughput simultaneously compared to the conventional universal frequency reuse (UFR) and FFR.
