[Invited Talk] Space-Time Coding Technologies for Fast Time-Varying Channels

(in English) This paper discusses differential space-time coding for fast time-varying channels. Differential space-time coding, which is differential encoded version of for space-time coding, is a promising candidate of a remedy for fast time-varying channels and a blind demodulation technique for unknown channel environment at the receivers. This differential space-time coding is one of transmit diversity (TD) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technologies and is divided into differential space-time block coding (DSTBC) and differential space-time trellis coding (DSTTC). For DSTBC, non-constant modulus (NCM) scheme has been widely investigated in spite of its large peak to average power ratio (PAPR), because its hardawre complexity for demdulation is relatively small. For DSTTC, differntial transmit delay diversty (DTDD) and per trasmit antenna differential mapping (PADM) have been investigated. In addition high order channel prediction can improve tracking capability of differential space-time coding. This paper evaluates tradeoff between tracking capability and complexity with respect to DSTBC and DSTTC.
