| (in English) | The logarithmic range compression before JPEG2000 encoding is well-known as the best-performing irreversible compression of HDR images. A range compression scheme by means of a piecewise logarithmic function is proposed in this work. A coding engine is LBLC that is competitive to JPEG2000. The improvements by the proposed method is marginal in objective performance measures. Through visual inspections of decoded images in LDR renditions, it is demonstrated that the proposed method produces more visually-pleasing images than the simple logarithmic range compression. | |
