Titanium oxide (TiO2) nanotubes are attractive nanomaterials as a negative electrode for a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC). In this study, we fabricated a front-side illuminated dye-sensitized solar cell using an anodic TiO2 nanotube film fabricated on a TCO layer. We investigated effects of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) treatment on characteristics of the DSC. The TiCl4 treatment of the TiO2 nanotube film increased the short circuit current, the shunt resistance, and the energy conversion efficiency. These results show that TiCl4 treatment formed a TiO2 nanoparticle layer on the nanotube surface to increase the surface area and to decrease the reduction sites on the nanotube surface. On the other hand, the ideal factor was increased, which indicates induce of carrier recombination at charge-separation region. |
