| (in English) | Utilising white space spectrum has been expected to be a radical solution for spectrum scarcity problem. Regulatory and technical studies have been conducted worldwide for introducing white space into practical use. Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), an intergovernmental organisation, and its APT Wireless Group (AWG) discuss on emerging wireless technologies, stimulation of research and development, spectrum sharing methodologies, and spectrum harmonisation within the region. White space utilisation is one of the interested topics also in AWG. In this panel, white space related topics from the 14th AWG meeting are reported, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand in March 2013. Analyses on the position of each member country and trends in technical and commercial aspects (including machine-to-machine (M2M) communication as a promising application) are also provided to discuss the issues towards the practical deployment of white space. | |
