We propose a computer-based learning support system that allows users to practice English pronunciation for effective presentations. Learners can listen to ideal English speech model sounds generated by the computer and also receive feedback and advice automatically from the system. Since it is necessary to study English speech sounds acoustically, we analyze the audio data comparing the speech sounds of presentation and read-aloud from the aspects such as pauses, pitch, and the durations of syllables and their nuclei. This study also presents the results of automatic extraction and recognition of such characteristics of the speech signals. |
