Sodium-ion batteries are expected as promising alternatives to lithium-ion batteries. In this study, we focused on Cu-based materials of NaCuO2 and CuFeO2, for sodium-ion batteries’ positive and negative active materials, respectively. Their electrochemical properties were investigated by fabricating electrochemical cells with sodium electrode. The reversible capacity of NaCuO2 was about 55 mAh/g between 1.7 and 4.2 V vs. Na/Na+. For CuFeO2, the reversible capacity was about 300 mAh/g between 0.01 and 3.0 V vs. Na/Na+. Additionally, we fabricated and tested the sodium-ion batteries consisting of the NaCuO2 positive electrode and CuFeO2 negative electrode. The first charge and discharge capacities were 2.24 and 0.45 mAh, respectively. |
