| (in English) | Stochastic computing, which is a computing method with probabilities(called stochastic numbers), draws attention as an alternative method of binary computing because it tolerates the increase in uncertainty in circuit behavior and in soft errors in the field. In this paper, we focus on edge detection, which is basic image processing, with stochastic computing and discuss the effect of correlated stochastic numbers on calculation accuracy. By calculating the correlation of two stochastic numbers with SC Correlation factor (SCC) , we clarify that only the correlation between the data stochastic numbers and the control ones impacts on calculation accuracy. Experimental results show that properly sharing pseudo-random generators (or LFSRs: Linear-Feedback Shift-Registers) for generating stochastic numbers can not only reduce the area of LFSRs but also keep the SCCs small, so that it achieves high calculation accuracy. |
