Evaluation of effect for space position recognition of presentation conditions on powered mechanical leading method

(in English) We propose a powered mechanical leading method to make it easier for visually impaired people to rapidly understand two-dimensional information displayed on a tactile display. A force was mechanically induced on the user’s fingers before the user began to tactilely explore content like illustrations and graphs to convey the overall configuration of the content. Here, we evaluate the effect of presentation conditions of the powered mechanical leading method on space recognition. The presentation conditions of mechanical leading speed and stay time at the object were set. In the experiment, after having been led to the position of four objects by powered mechanical leading, the subject indicated the space position by the recall method. The evaluation index was performed with the distance of the error of being located between an instruction position and a reproduction position. As a result, it was found that the reproduction error of the space position (a) depended on the distance to lead, (b) was in the minimum value range depending on the object-to-object leading speed, and (c) increased when the object-to-object leading speed and the contour of the object leading speed were the same.
