CSI Reference Signal Multiplexing Using Carrier Frequency Swapping for FDD High-Order MIMO SDM

(in English) This paper proposes channel state information - reference signal (CSI-RS) multiplexing employing carrier frequency swapping for frequency division duplex (FDD) high-order multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) spatial division multiplexing (SDM). In the proposed time division duplex (TDD) CSI-RS multiplexing method, carrier frequency of one or a few FFT blocks for multiplexing CSI-RS within a subframe is swapped in between downlink and uplink. By using the proposed TDD CSI-RS multiplexing method, CSI for precoding and link adaptation is estimated in the reverse link by taking advantage of the channel reciprocity feature. By using the proposed TDD CSI-RS multiplexing, RS overhead is decreased according the increase in the simultaneously accessing user equipment (UE) for multiuser MIMO SDM. Moreover, the proposed TDD CSI-RS multiplexing method does not need feedback signals including channel quality indicator (CQI), rank indicator (RI), and precoding matrix indicator (PMI), which leads to the significant decrease in the feedback signal overhead compared to the conventional CSI-RS multiplexing.
