| (in English) | When speech sound is presented via open-air public address system, the speech intelligibility is often degraded because of the effect of long-path echoes.To cope with this, we are focusing on the effect of pause insertion between words consisting of the speech signals.In this study, word intelligibility test using groups of four words was examined under various pause insertion patterns and long-path echo conditions.A quantitative analysis of effects of these two parameters on the intelligibility was carried out.The results indicated that the intelligibility is significantly improved by inserting pauses between words.This suggests that speech signals with adequate pause would result in robust speech communication even in the presence of long-path echoes. | |
