Tunable Laser with Unequally Spaced Passive Waveguides for Backside Wavelength Monitor

(in English) We have developed tunable 16 DFB laser array with unequally spaced passive waveguides for backside wavelength monitor for the first time. In order to obtain low power consumption of TEC, we have applied a 16 DFB laser array. The lowest operational temperature could be increased by 10 °C, compared with that of the 12 DFB laser array. In addition, the backside wavelength monitor can reduce the power consumption by 8 % compared with that using front side monitor. As a result, power consumption of chip of less than 0.47 W at 25 °C, the fiber output power of more than 14 dBm, the linewidth of less than 400 kHz, the SMSR over 50 dB, and the wavelength tuning range of more than 37 nm were achieved. The total power consumption of micro-ITLA less than 4 W is expected.
