TDMA based logical OLT virtualization method for ONU group disaster recovery

(in English) To improve disaster tolerance in optical access and aggregation network, the Elastic Lambda Aggregation Network (EλAN) has been proposed. In the EλAN, an active optical distribution network (ODN) will provide restoration capability among an optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network units (ONUs). However, when many central offices (COs) will be collapsed and ODN well be able to provides fiber routes from ONUs to COs, few OLTs should support enormous numbers of ONUs. If the number of ONUs is over the accommodation number of the OLT, many ONUs are not able to recover from the disaster. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a time division multiple access (TDMA) based logical OLT sharing method among ONU groups. The proposed method provides exceeding the ONU accommodation limit number of single OLT. The prototype implementation and performance evaluation results are present.
