The world's largest 20 inches Photomultiplier tube has been used in Super-Kamiokande as a water Cherenkov detector. Currently, a new development of the PMT has been carried out for adoption to Hyper-Kamiokande Project. With regard to an oil drilling field, we developed the PMT which has high temperature resistance of 200 degrees Celsius, as well as withstanding vibration and shock, in order to search the location of oil efficiently. In case of the world's smallest PMT (microPMT), it has been developed using MEMS technology, and consists of deeply etched Silicon dynode sandwiched by two glass plates. The microPMT is expected as a new type of detector for the field of POCT (Point Care Of Testing), including μTAS, Medical, Environmental, and Analysis market. |
