Study of Implant Antenna for FSK-based Impulse Radio System

(in English) One of promising applications for implant body area network (BAN) is a wireless capsule endoscope. A wireless capsule endoscope is composed of a color camera, a light source and a battery, and transmits images to outside receivers in order to assist in diagnosing gastrointestinal conditions. Current implant communications usually use 400 MHz band. However, due to the narrow-band limitation, it is difficult to realize a high-speed communication. In this study, to solve this problem, we propose to use a band around 30 MHz, and aim to develop a frequency shift keying (FSK)-based impulse radio system with a wider band width. For this purpose, we designs a small implant transmit antenna over a magnetic sheet in order to realize two resonant frequencies for the FSK-based communication. The simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of high-speed implant communication at the 30 MHz band.
