Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We sometimes feel illusions (e.g. induced motion, illusory self-motion perception (called vection) and others). In this way, we perceive illusory motion from external worlds under several specific conditions. In this study, we examine two illusory motions: induced motion and vection. The abovementioned illusions have a commonality; these two illusions are perceived when directional motion occurs to vicinities of objects in peripheral visual fields. On the other hand, visual fields are narrowed when persons gaze at something attentively; induced motion and vection are inhibited by attentional task. In this paper, we studied relationship of the illusory motion and attention. Intensities of the abovementioned illusions were measured by subjective assessment. Participants felt induced motion and vection when viewing experimental video contents with horizontal and vertical motion.
