Coupling Coefficient Estimation Using Impedance Inverter Coil in Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer System for Electric Vehicles

(in English) To implement dynamic wireless charging to electric vehicles using wireless power transfer, a system which senses the presence of vehicles and turns on/off the primary coils is necessary. Therefore, a system that automatically turns on/off by using impedance inverter coil to change the primary input impedance was proposed.
In systems of dynamic charging, the control of the secondary impedance with DC-DC converter is needed in order to optimize their efficiency or transmitting power. Moreover, the coupling coefficient between coils needs to be estimated from the secondary voltage or current. However, the estimation of coupling coefficient is difficult because secondary voltage has a peak. In this paper, a new advantage of using a impedance inverter coil that enables the estimation of coupling coefficient by moving the peak of the secondary voltage is introduced and experimentally verified.
