| (in English) | When confined to quantum noise, the noise in X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) images is according to a Poisson distribution, having a certain correlation between pixels, and is not spatially independent. However, it is often useful to assume that CT image noise is distributed according to a normal distribution and statistically independent between pixels. Therefore, in this study, we have evaluated the normality of noise distribution in CT images by using the difference image between the two CT images at the same slice location; these CT images were reconstructed from a virtual CT scan for a voxel phantom which simulates acute cerebral infarction and from a commercially available CT scanner for a breast phantom. | |
