Eliminations of dura maters from MR Images using probablistic atlas and graph cut technique

(in English) This study aims at proposing algorithm that liminate the dura maters in brain MR images accurately. Ordinary methods often fail to distinguish the dura maters from the sinus venosus as the gray matters because these brain portions have similar voxel values and because they often anatomically contact each other. The extraction error of the dura maters cause inaccurate measurement for the volume of brain region in brain MR image analysis for dementia. A given brain MR image is firstly deformed so that the surfaces of the skull and of the dura mater become at horizontal surfaces. Then, applying both a probabilistic atlas of the dura mater and a graph-cut technique that is designed for segmenting at parallel surfaces, the proposed method could eliminate the dura maters. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method could the dura maters accurately.
