DOA Estimation Using Temporal-Spatial Virtual Array Based on Doppler Shift

(in English) Recently, Doppler radar has been applied to various applications such as detection and classification of indoor human activities as well as detection of an airplane and a vehicle. To improve degree of freedom (DOF) and accuracy of direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has received much attention in recent years. A research on temporal-spatial virtual array is one of researches that propose a method to improve DOA estimation in MIMO radar. However, temporal-spatial virtual array should be generated based on information of the single target on which we focus. Thus, the method is difficult to address the situation that multiple targets with different velocities and angles exist in the search area. In this report, we propose a new method that provides higher accuracy of DOA estimation by using temporal-spatial virtual array based on Doppler shift. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method via simulations.
