Computer-assisted detection/diagnosis (CAD) software has been developed by many research groups, and commercial CAD software has also been released. However, most radiologists have not yet utilized CAD software in daily practice. Possible cause includes the difference of data characteristics, such as imaging hardware and imaging protocols, between in developmental and in practical environments. However, it is difficult for many research groups to have a dataset of significant quantity and quality in their research environment, because of the issue of the personal information protection. Hence, it is desired to build an in-hospital environment for supervised learning and evaluation of CAD software. We have implemented the collaborative research project for training and evaluation of CAD software in other institutions (UTH CAD Challenge) since August 2014. We described overview of the project and reported interim results of UTH CAD Challenge 2014. |
