| (in English) | In this report, a nondestructive measurement technique for Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic Mortar (FRPM) pipes using microwave and Electro-Optic (EO) sensors is presented. This method is based on the accurate measurement of microwave signals transmitted in/along the FRPM pipe-walls. We found that FRPM pipes of 250 $sim$ 1000 mm in diameter and 18 mm in thickness can be a good cylindrical waveguide with single or a few guided modes for 1 $sim$ 10 GHz microwave and that the microwave transmission along a FRPM pipe is rather affected by defects in the FRPM pipe or its surface condition. We analyzed and measured the microwave transmission characteristics along FRPM pipes, and experimentally conformed a clear change in the microwave transmission characteristics caused by defects or surface condition change of the pipes. We also measured field distributions of the microwave propagating along the pipes using an EO sensor. | |
