Prospect of small satellites technology
Korehiro Maeda (JRANSA) SANE2015-17
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Small satellites have advantages such as small size, low cost, short development period which are not obtained in large satellite. Moreover, parts and components can be verified in small satellite. Though small satellites often lead to low performance, higher performance can be achieved in some small satellites which will have more demand in the future. In 2015 Hodoyoshi-1,-3,4 and other small satellites were launched successfully. Based upon these results, constellation of observation equipments with higher performance and communication equipments including satellite inter-communication will be needed. In this paper, based upon results to date on small satellites, future prospect of small satellite is presented.
