Strengths of two different vections, visual and auditory vections, were directly compared. We measured visual vection induced by visual optic flow and auditory vection induced by a rotating sound simulated self-rotation within the same participants (N = 50). Results indicated that the participants rated substantial strengths both the visual and auditory vection conditions., and the correlation between the visual and auditory vection strengths were significant. These results suggest that some common basic mechanisms in self-motion perception relevant to visual and auditory vection in our perceptual and/or
cognitive system. |
