For elderly persons who live apart from their adult children, keeping touch with their surrounding people including family and local community and maintaining the circumstances make life worth living. In the paper some results of survey needs by conducting interviews with elderly persons are presented. Then, a concept of a novel telecommunication support system called Tomo-Livi that connect two separated living rooms of elderly and daughter/son families is introduced. The system provides co-existing atmosphere by sharing existing/non-existing information of persons in the rooms by taking care of their privacies. When they have intentions to have a conversation with their counterpart, system mediate their conversation taking advantage of videophone function. |
