In this paper, we investigate threshold setting for spectrum sensing based on statistics of spectrum usage for spectrum sharing between PU (Primary User) and SU (Secondary User). It has been shown that spectrum sensing performance can be improved by using the statistics, i.e. distribution of received signal power, state transition probability. However, relationship between threshold and detection probability and false alarm probability has not been investigated deeply.
In this paper, we show that estimation of received signal power statistics affect the detection performance (detection probability and false alarm probability). We assume that distribution of received signal power follows Gaussian distribution. We utilize margin for a countermeasure of estimation error in received signal power statistics to set threshold properly. The threshold and the margin are set in empirical manner.
We evaluate robustness of the threshold in two scenarios: priori information of spectrum state is expressed by either probability of the state of decision of state. In fact, the former one has much robustness compared to the later one.
We also confirmed that increasing number of samples in the spectrum sensing can enhance the performance. |
