Basic Study on Wireless Power Transfer in Shielded Space with Scatterers Based on Cavity Resonator Theory

(in English) Reducing vehicle weight is one of the key factors for improvement in fuel efficiency. Therefore, wireless power transfer in the engine compartment has been studied. However, conventional approaches still have not achieved practicable efficiency because the engine compartment is a shielded space with signal scatterers. In this paper, a new approach based on the fundamental mode of a resonant cavity is proposed. The engine compartment is considered to have a similar effect on a ridge waveguide. First, we evaluate the variation in the fundamental resonant frequency of the engine compartment. The simulation results indicates the possibility that the wireless power transmission efficiency can be improved by using the waveguide mode.
