In case that a great disaster happens, information transmissions including the safety confirmation will become very difficult since disconnection of communication networks is encountered. For quick provision of temporary communications to the isolated areas where the communication measures are shut down, we are developing message storage and transporting system using unmanned aircraft (UA) for the disaster areas. In such system, the UA picks up the messages (ex. e-mail) in isolated areas and return them to non-isolated areas (safety area). This system has superior merit to establish the communication network quickly without influence of damage on the ground.
For the objective, we apply the Fixed Wing UA which can generally fly farther and for longer period, comparing with the rotary wing UAs. In the Fixed Wing UA, there are such issues to be solved that relative locations, between the ground stations in isolated areas and air stations onboard the UA, vary from time to time, since the Fixed Wing UAs cannot stay in the fixed point. Moreover, the air stations cannot know detailed location of the ground station. Therefore, the communication quality depends on UA’s circling movement, types of antennas, mounting bent of onboard antenna, and so on.
Herein, we suppose three types of antennas which are applied well in Wi-Fi and satellite communications, and show that the circling movement of UA give influence of the communication quality. From this result, we demonstrate the types and mounting bent of antennas, which would offer high and stable throughput between air station and ground stations. |
