Recently, we propose an audio watermarking scheme based on singular-spectrum analysis (SSA), and also propose an improved version by incorporating differential evolution into the previously proposed scheme. The basic idea is that, SSA is used to deliver a singular spectrum of given audio frame, and then a watermark bit is embedded into the frame by modifying some singular values. Naturally, any part of singular-spectrum curve is decreased and convex. However, according to our proposed modification rule, when a watermark bit “1” is embedded, it causes some part of singular spectrum concave. In the previous work, we take it for granted that the extraction process knows in advance where the concave part is located. Unfortunately, such a location is stimulus-dependent. Therefore, the assumption is not practicable for some real-world applications. To solve the problem, this work proposes two methods for concavity detection in singular spectrum in order to estimate the location automatically. In the first method, concavity is determined by analyzing the second order derivative of singular spectrum. For the second method, a concavity density function is defined and used to find the concave part of singular spectrum. The test results show that, even though the derivative-based method can be used for concavity detection, but it has limitations, especially when the concave part is located on a tail of singular spectrum. The second proposed method outperforms the first one. The correct identification of concave part is quite high with the narrow margin of error. |
