Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) These days, the study of brain function using fMRI and NIRS are well performed. In those studies, the interaction between various kinds of sensory systems are focused. But most of these interaction mechanisms are still unknown. In this study, we measured the brain activation related to the interaction of the visual stimulus and somatosensory stimulus. We provided three types of tasks. One of them is somatosensory task that performed tactile vibration as a somatosensory stimulus on the left index fingertip; the others are somatosensory stimulus tasks with the long or short interval N-back interaction. The brain activation between three types of tasks and rest were compared. As a result, the activation in the primary somatosensory cortex was detected with pushing button task. On the other hand, it was not detected for two types of N-back tasks. These findings suggest that gating is well induced regardless of the difficulty of task.
