Rapid progress in the field of information technology in recent years has resulted in the implementation of direction-of-arrival estimation methods in numerous applications. When estimating the direction of arrival of a particular sound in an actual environment with reverberation, the estimation precision of the direction of arrival is often degraded by the reverberation. In this paper, for the MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification) method, in order to reduce the influence of reverberation, we propose the use of amplitude variation in the time domain when the sound source is assumed to be speech. When the sound source is a speech signal, the signal to reverberation ratio changes along with the signal source amplitude variation. Based on this property, the high reverberation ratio time period can be extracted from observed signals. Thus, we propose a direction of arrival estimation method that decreases the influence of reverberation based on MUSIC using joint diagonalization of two covariance matrices that are calculated for different periods. Computer simulations verify that the proposed method can estimate direction of arrival more precisely than conventional methods considering reverberation. |
