Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to understand the mechanism of ultrasonic bone healing, we have experimentally studied the ultrasonically induced electrical potential in the cartilage. In addition to the reference cortical bone transducers, we have fabricated cartilage ultrasound transducers. By irradiating ultrasound in the MHz range, the receiving sensitivity of the transducer is discussed. The main part of the cartilage is type?collagen. The results indicate that the piezoelectricity of the cartilage comes from the collagen.
