In the regional protection system currently operating in the city of Shiojiri, data packets from transmitters carried by children and sensor terminals installed at various locations are relayed by transponders and sent to the server. Each transponder selects as a route the transponder with the minimum number of hops to the server. At this time, the only candidates for selection are transponders whose electric field intensity with other transponders present in the surrounding area is at or above a certain value (called the “relay standard level”). At the time the system was constructed in 2008, there was problem with a high packet loss rate in packet transfer between these transponders. We conjectured that one cause was electromagnetic interference between transponders, and when the value of the "relay standard level" was increased as mitigation measure, the packet loss rate decreased. However, no model was created to correctly express the mechanism of this electromagnetic interference causing packet loss. Also, this mitigation measure is intuitive, and has not been elucidated as a method. Therefore, in this research, our objective is to establish a technique for reducing the packet loss rate in wireless mesh networks, and we propose a model for clearly expressing the electromagnetic interference between transponders. |
