Optimization of Degree Distribution for Coded Frameless ALOHA

(in English) Frameless ALOHA is a random access scheme, where users transmit their packets with the given transmission probability, and a base station tries to retrieve the transmitted packets using successive interference cancellation (SIC). Due to the probabilistic transmission, some packets may never be transmitted during the frame, leading to the error floor of the packet loss rate (PLR). Coded frameless ALOHA has been proposed to eliminate the error floor using erasure correcting codes. In this paper, the degree distribution of the erasure correcting code is theoretically optimized so that the average throughput is maximized. It is revealed that the coded frameless ALOHA with the optimal degree distribution can theoretically achieve higher throughput than the original frameless ALOHA, while the sufficiently small PLR is also achieved.
