| (in English) | Running shoes have two different functions of shock absorption and foot stabilization. Previous researches of factors in decisions to buy them reported that the former was less interesting than the latter. Such lack in interest of foot stabilization could be a cause of running injuries. Then we studied the relation between foot stabilization and sensory evaluation by means of motion analysis and sensory test. In experiments, we used several running shoes with a sole incorporated with five gel materials having different characteristics in hardness and impact resilience. Motion analysis revealed that hardness and impact resilience of gel material had a little effect on foot pronation under given empirical conditions, while sensory test revealed that runners evaluated foot stabilization primarily by sole deformation. Consequently, runners are considered to evaluate foot stabilization comprehensively, considering not only foot pronation but sole deformation. | |
