Identifying whether a process is free from classical mimicry is an important issue in quantum information. Here, we propose a new method to decompose a general process into classical part and non-classical composition. The classical part is composed of classical processes that can be fully described by transition probabilities and classical realistic theories. The composition of non-classical processes can be used to evaluate the quality of a quantum gate for quantum computation and to measure the non-Markovian behavior in open systems. Such a quantum process quantifier, combined with other potential extensions such as quantum process robustness and criteria on process fidelity, may provide a objective and comprehensive formalism to describe general processes. |
