Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The massive MIMO technology which generates sharp beams in higher frequency bands is known as a promising method to accommodate rapidly-increasing traffic in mobile radio.
In massive MIMO systems, there have already been a number of papers on hybrid beamforming that controls beams with beam-space signal-processing. Then, it is very important to form proper beams and to select proper ones from many beams. In the paper, we evaluate the performance dependency on beam shapes: DFT based beams, Chebyshev weighted beams, and Gaussian weighted beams. In addition, we test two different criteria for beam selection: power basis and angle basis. The evaluation results show the superiority of DFT beams in a case where there are we beam direction errors. It is also shown that the selection criteria give different effects on high and low throughput users.
