[Invited Lecture] Horn Antenna Prototyped by Using CNC Machine Tool

(in English) Because the high manufacturing accuracy is required for a high gain horn antenna, the techniques to make a horn antenna have been too complex to produce it easily and cheaply until now. In this paper, the machine controlled by computer numerically (CNC) is proposed to be used to make the parts of horn antenna with high accuracy. CNC can control the dimension size with high accuracy very easily, therefore, it meets the manufacturing accuracy of horn antenna. The measured properties of the prototyped horn antenna are agreed very well with the simulation results, showing our manufacturing method is very effective and reliable. Moreover, this antenna won the kQ award in GHz category in wireless coupler contest held in Society meeting, IEICE, 2016.
