Contorol of sliding wear for thin film sliding contacts.

(in English) Contact wear at electrical contacts is roughly classified into mechanical wear and electrical wear. Regarding mechanical wear, the relationship between contact hardness and wear has been confirmed by Holm[1]. However, when the contact thickness becomes thin to several microns or less, it is difficult to measure by the conventional measurement method such as Vickers, and it was difficult to obtain the correlation between the contact hardness and the wear amount as in the bulk material study. Therefore, in this study, we have found the Nano-indentation as a more accurately measurement method for hardness of the thin film metal. As a result, the correlation between the hardness of the thin film contacts and the wear amount was clarified, and the wear of the sliding contact can be controlled by the contact hardness.
