This paper proposes a high quality low dynamic range (LDR) image generation scheme for the JPEG XT standard, which is a compression method for high dynamic range (HDR) images. Generally, HDR images are mapped to LDR ones due to the limitations of display devices by applying tone mapping operation (TMO). The JPEG XT standard provides two schemes for producing LDR ones. This paper proposes the third scheme to produce LDR ones from JPEG XT images, in which generated LDR ones have a high structural similarity as well as HDR ones. The proposed scheme carries out an optimization technique with the structural fidelity to improve the quality of LDR ones. |
