DTN Performance Improvement Based on Communicable Time between Nodes
Han Jia, Masatoshi Kawarasaki (Tsukuba Univ.) IN2016-139
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) DTN (Delay / Disruption Tolerant Network) has been proposed as a communication technology for networks that are susceptible to delay and division. In this paper, focusing on the fact that the performance of DTN largely depends on the communicable time between nodes, we propose a transmission control method that predicts the communicable time and transmits only data that can complete transmission within the time. Firstly, we evaluate the performance of the proposed method using the ONE simulator to find its poor performance contrary to our expectation. Secondly, based on the analysis of poor performance, we introduce the acknowledgment packet (anti-packet) and further improvement measures to transmit anti-packet preferentially. As a result, we show that the proposed method with above enhancements can improve DTN performance significantly compared with existing methods such as Epidemic and ProPHET v2.
