A study of E-field distribution radiated from a non-ideal dipole antenna
Takehiro Morioka (AIST) EMCJ2016-125
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A dipole antenna is one of the basic linear antennas and has many advantages to carry out precision E-field measurements due to its simple structure. Since the dipole antenna is assumed to be excited by a balanced signal source, a balance-unbalance transformer (balun) is necessary for the ordinary measurement. However, the balun should have the operating frequency band and transforming characteristics at an out-band frequency are no longer guaranteed. Even at an in-band frequency the balun quality is not always ideal and the common-mode current may perturb the radiated E-field distribution. In the present paper influence of the imperfect balun characteristics on the E-field distribution radiated from a dipole antenna are studied.
