A Study of Quantitative Evaluation of Captioned Video Image

(in English) A closed caption is a best solution that a hearing-impaired person obtains information from a picture on a television etc. However, information in a video image is impaired if a caption covers or hide a part of the image. To be imparted a suitable caption to a video image, we believe that a method to evaluate a caption quantitively is required. Therefore, we propose a method to calculate score of a captioned video image. We describe a method to calculate score by using information quantities of contents and position in a captioned video image. In according to our evaluation experiment, the satisfaction level of the score of a sample image to which is imparted caption at random position is about 65 percent.
