Meshed ground planes are extensively used in today’s flexible printed circuit (FPC) board because of its flexibility in changing the impedance and the capacitance between signal line and ground plane. At the same time, differential signal transmission are adopted for signal transmission. Therefore, the design of the differential signal line on meshed-ground FPC is necessary. As meshed-ground plane FPC transmission line’s cross section is different along the line, tradition method to calculate characteristic impedance can’t be used. So it is necessary to find a new way to analyze the characteristic impedance. In this paper, a method to get the effective characteristic impedance of a meshed-ground FPC is carried out. Above this, a relationship about the characteristic impedance and the parameters of the structure of FPC is also given for common design. For giving the fitting equation, the least square method is adopted. |
