Antireflection technique for organic solar cells by the control of refractive index profile

(in English) Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) are the devices in which organic semiconductors are used as an active layer. The OPVs receive high attention, because they can be low cost, light weight, and flexible power generation devices for next generation. Since OPVs have an absorption band that matches the irradiance spectra of indoor light sources such as LED and fluorescent lamp, the OPVs are also promising as indoor solar cell devices. In this report, we study an antireflection technique for OPVs by which the refractive index profile of the device is controlled by using surface nanotexture (moth eye) and high refractive index glass. We show that the proposed system has high antireflective function for both indoor and outdoor light conditions, and also for oblique light conditions with large incident angles.
