Broadened applications of navigation satellite systems as social bases have been revealing vulnerabilities of being interfered, jammed, or deceived due to their dependency on weak radio waves to estimate positions and times. Among these vulnerabilities, deception can affect receivers without being detected and hence is evaluated a serious threat. In 2016 an incident suspected to be caused by a deception attack has been reported. Interpretation that deception technologies, whose results have been published only in experiments, were executed without any warnings coincides with the reports. Deception attacks are classified into measuring deception and communication deception depending on their target functionalities. A communication deception attack tends to be applicable to other communication devices and to share same countermeasures. Among these countermeasures, authentication codes are planed concretely to be introduced in navigation messages. Countermeasure against communication deception, however, can not solely protect measurement deception. Thus, a countermeasure using spacial degree of freedom has been proposed. To overcome its technical limits, one using temporal using temporal degrees of freedom is recently proposed. Those technologies will be discussed in the present paper. |
